- Ratherous (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) This user has repeatedly engaged in edits that align with Russian disinformation narratives by including occupied territories as part of Russia, despite these areas being internationally recognized as part of Ukraine. When challenged on this, they dismissed concerns and refused to acknowledge established facts under international law. It violates WP:NPOV (Neutral Point of View), WP:V (Verifiability), WP:DISRUPT (Disruptive Editing). I have engaged in discussions with this user, attempting to clarify why Wikipedia should not reflect the territorial claims of an occupying force. However, they continue to insist that the issue is “not about sovereignty” and refuse to acknowledge the broader implications of their edits. They have also responded dismissively to multiple editors raising similar concerns. (talk) 15:20, 30 January 2025 (UTC)

[edit]- Salaariseave (talk · contribs · deleted · filter log · SUL · Google) • (block · soft · promo · cause · bot · hard · spam · vandal) – Violation of the username policy as a misleading and promotional username. Appears to be using userpage as a webhost for links to promotional posts on other channels; Username is that of a well-lnown person. Geoff | Who, me? 16:14, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- Not a violation of the username policy. Stage names and pen names are permitted except when they imply that the editor is a specific living person they are not. Consider filing a report at the conflict of interest noticeboard. Fathoms Below (talk) 22:17, 29 January 2025 (UTC)

- Not a blatant violation of the username policy. Please discuss this with the user first, and consider opening a community discussion at Requests for comment/User names if they disagree with your concerns. To block without warning, there must be some connection between the account name and their edits, I may have missed it, but I haven't seen one. 331dot (talk) 09:46, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- I also note that they've had this username since 2021. 331dot (talk) 09:48, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- Shiva and Parvati (talk · contribs · deleted · filter log · SUL · Google) • (block · soft · promo · cause · bot · hard · spam · vandal) – Violation of the username policy as a misleading username. An account name with "and" in the middle like this implies two people are operating it. No problem with the edits, just the misleading name. MarcGarver (talk) 08:29, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- MarcGarver, since Shiva and Parvati are deities instead of people, I fail to see the problem. Cullen328 (talk) 08:50, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- I guess that's a fair point, although they are equally used as people's names (e.g., Aerial and Gabriel are angels, but also people's names). MarcGarver (talk) 09:51, 30 January 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for increase in protection level
[edit]Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Removal of tags and addition of poorly sourced budget by multiple sock IPs, here, here, and here. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 07:40, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- Automated comment: A request for protection/unprotection for one or more pages in this request was recently made, and was denied at some point within the last 8 days.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 07:49, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason: High level of edit warring with a particular user removing well sourced content Expectopatronum30 (talk) 11:59, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason: P Muffiactor (talk) 12:00, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Lectonar (talk) 12:09, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Constant edit warring and removal of sourced historical information. Nabhas Chandra (talk) 13:01, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Sean Duffy is the new US Secretary of Transportation; a small section on his position on climate change keeps being changed or partly deleted by IPs. One deletion was explained by climate change "not [being] a proven fact", and another edit replaced the term "climate change denial" with "thoughtful discourse regarding climate change". WikiFouf (talk) 13:28, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- Declined – Likely collateral damage as one or several users who are making improvements would be affected by the requested protection. This board doesn't operate to protect specific subject content; we apply protection when the page is under active attack. I see normal editing processes at work. I see several new accounts and ip users making useful contributions at this time. High activity is expected when a public figure is 1) in Congress for confirmation and 2) when their department responds appropriately to accidents. BusterD (talk) 14:04, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason: A user keeps amending this page to include a note under the “Side Slam” section stating, “Bryan Beal of Berkeley Heights Township Wrestling performs a version called The Beal Bomb.” Neither this wrestler (Bryan Beal) nor the promotion (Berkeley Heights Township Wrestling) hold any form of notoriety in professional wrestling; searching for both “Bryan Beal wrestler” and “Berkeley Heights Township Wrestling” in popular search engines yields no results. This is clearly someone trying to amend the article to include their name to show off to friends or something. I’ve removed the reference a number of times now, and each time it is reverted. The latest reversion even admits the above (“BK Heights Township wrestling is a local house show.”) A local house show does not, to me, seem to satisfy Wikipedia’s requirements of notoriety and therefore warrant inclusion in the article. Martin Bean (talk) 13:52, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
temporary semi-protection: - IP vandalism. Recent death of controversial person.BabbaQ (talk) 14:05, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Persistent vandalism from IP Users, especially adding the "fact" that it has long names without good reason.CricketXP (talk) 14:06, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. IP appears to restore changes by 13enedict. They also referred to a talk page discussion recently started by 13enedict (with no other responses). Mellk (talk) 14:27, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- 13enedict now appears to leave a comment on my talk page, stating that they will restore the changes if they do not hear from me. Since this looks like WP:LOUTSOCK and they are only focused on this particular article, it might be sufficient to only block them? Mellk (talk) 14:44, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- I actually do agree this needs page or at least the section of Early Life needs protection. It is currently in an inaccurate state and User:Mellk is refusing to discuss. 13enedict (talk) 14:52, 30 January 2025 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent addition of unsourced content due to the subject being in the news regarding a potential transfer. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 15:34, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Persistent unsourced content from IP range Special:Contributions/36.71.136.0/22. The article is about Malaysian record label, but they keep change to "Malaya-Hong Kong-Singapore number one and largest oldest oldies record label owned by Hup Hup Sdn Bhd", as well as their problematic edits without any improvement. 183.171.120.157 (talk) 15:35, 30 January 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level
[edit]Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Current requests for edits to a protected page
[edit]Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Requests for autopatrolled |

Autopatrolled[edit]
I've seen this editor's work on multiple occasions at New Page Review. Has created 208 pages, none deleted, more than 3/4 of them B-class. High-quality page creation with infoboxes, quality references with proper formatting, images, etc., requiring no cleanup by reviewers. Dclemens1971 (talk) 17:38, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
I would like to request auto-patrolled rights on Wikipedia. I have been actively contributing to the project and have created more than 30 of articles to date, which adhere to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I believe my experience and attention to detail make me a good fit for this role. Granting me auto-patrolled rights would help reduce the workload on other patrollers by automatically marking my new pages as reviewed. Please feel free to review my contributions and articles to ensure they meet the necessary standards. Let me know if any additional information is required. Thank you for considering my request! Needforname (talk) 17:39, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason for requesting autopatrolled rights Ahola .O (talk) 22:56, 11 January 2025 (UTC) I am requesting the autopatrolled user right because I have been actively contributing to Wikipedia and believe that my experience and adherence to Wikipedia's guidelines make me a suitable candidate for this right, I have created over 25 articles, all of which comply with Wikipedia's notability guidelines and content policies. My contributions have consistently aimed to enhance the quality and reliability of the encyclopedia. I believe that granting me the autopatrolled user right will help reduce the workload of new page patrollers and allow me to continue contributing to Wikipedia more efficiently. Thank you for considering my request. Ahola .O (talk)
Reason for requesting autopatrolled rights I have created almost 50 articles and whilst producing these articles I have developed my understanding of wikipedia policies, conformed with the rules for biographies of living persons and have improved the content and formatting of numerous articles. SDGB1217 (talk) 14:46, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
Hello, I have created 75+ articles, since I got autopatrolled mostly focusing on television series. For transparency, I'm still working on the feedback received from @Schwede66 in my last request. And I intent to keep doing the good work. Thanks for your consideration. Wishing the community a prosperous new year. C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 06:56, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
Concise, well-written and sufficiently articles, mostly with a royal or Church of England focus. I looked at an articles of theirs as part of NPP, and found it to be up to standard without editing. Others look reasonable too. Klbrain (talk) 12:15, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
I’m requesting Autopatrolled rights for my account. I have contributed a significant number of edits, and my contributions are well-sourced and meet notability standards. I believe this rights would help my workflow and reduce the load on reviewers. 𝒮-𝒜𝓊𝓇𝒶 12:56, 23 January 2025 (UTC)
The editor has written 176 articles, with only two being deleted. Their work is well-researched, notable, and meets the encyclopedic standards. Given their track record, I believe they can be trusted to patrol their own articles. Garuda Talk! 13:02, 24 January 2025 (UTC)

Extended confirmed[edit]
Dear Wikipedia Administrators, I am writing to request the necessary permissions to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on my Wikipedia account. I value the security of my account and believe that adding 2FA will provide an additional layer of protection, ensuring the safety of my contributions and the integrity of my account. My Contributions: Username: Jjackson10003 Account Details: Autoconfirmed user since August 10, 2020, with 10 edits to date. I have actively contributed to Wikipedia by [briefly describe your contributions, such as editing specific articles, creating pages, or participating in discussions]. Reason for Request: As technology evolves, the risk of account hijacking increases, particularly with the rise of AI and changes in regimes that may encourage bad actors to exploit vulnerabilities. Enabling 2FA will significantly reduce the likelihood of unauthorized access to my account and prevent potential misuse. Ensuring account security is critical, both for individual users and for the protection of Wikipedia’s broader community and platform integrity. While I am currently an autoconfirmed user, I understand that 2FA is typically reserved for users with advanced permissions. I kindly request that I be considered for either extended confirmed user status or temporary access to enable 2FA. Commitment to Wikipedia Standards: I am committed to following Wikipedia’s policies and guidelines, ensuring that my contributions adhere to community standards. I believe that my request aligns with the shared goal of maintaining a secure and trustworthy environment for editors and the broader Wikipedia community. Thank you for considering my request. Please let me know if there is any additional information or clarification needed. I am happy to provide further details about my contributions or intentions. Sincerely, Jjackson10003 Jjackson10003 (talk) 16:00, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
Hello, long time user of Wikipedia here, with a relatively new account which has less than 500 edits, while I was working on translating an article about an Israeli nurse and women's rights activist שרה לשנסקי (Sara Lishansky) from Hebrew to English. I noticed that I was only able to publish my translation as draft, What are my options in this case? AsmarTiba (talk) 11:06, 29 January 2025 (UTC) |

I've been Wiki-editing since 2018 and have become a familiar face on the snooker project. I'm accustomed to creating articles and redirects, and I'm fully conversant with Wikipedia policies and guidelines. I've co-nominated three articles for FAC (all promoted) and contributed to many other FACs. I've been a pending changes reviewer since May 2020, and I like to think I am fair and neutral in any discussions that I get involved in. With over 24,000 main space edits to my name, I've been quite an active editor over the years, and I think I could make a useful contribution as a New page reviewer. Page mover[edit]
I think I meet all the criteria, I have been an editor for more than 6 months, I have over 3000 edits, I have participated in more than 50 move requests, and I've never been blocked. History6042😊 (Contact me) 21:00, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
Recently active back at RM for the past three months after being extremely active many years ago. I was brought to MR twice in 2013 & 2015 and in both cases my closure was endorsed. I have !voted recently in most of the recent months of MR and always aligned with consensus. Spent the last three months getting reacquainted with the changes in policy and approaches to RM's and have started to perform some closures. Would appreciate the bit to help reduce the need for CSD#G6 and/or RM/TR to complete some of these moves. Thanks! TiggerJay (talk) 08:47, 26 January 2025 (UTC)

Requests for rollback |

Rollback[edit]
I’m requesting rollback tool to help with vandalism fighting more effectively. I’ve been active in counter-vandalism work and have a good understanding of policies like WP:VAND and WP:AGF. While I’ve made mistakes in the past, I’ve taken the feedback onboard, slowed down, and focused on making more accurate judgements. Rollback would allow me to handle clear vandalism more efficiently without cluttering edit histories. I’m committed to using it responsibly and only for obvious cases of vandalism, leaving more complex issues for discussion or reporting. Thank you for considering my request. Footballnerd2007 • talk ⚽ 17:27, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
I am re-requesting rollback after being denied around the end of December for not being consistent enough in RC patrol to meet the criteria. I understand that now and have come back with hopefully having reverted obvious and blatant vandalism more consistently over the past month. As always, I assume good faith, and when it comes to recent changes, if I see something that I'm not quite sure is vandalism or not, I won't undo it. I am well-versed in the different warning templates and when to use each one, and I know when it is appropriate to report to WP:AIV. Rollback will help me quickly undo the very obvious and problematic vandalism that I might catch on RC. Fishy-Finns (talk) 19:43, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason for requesting rollback rights I mainly spend my time on Wikipedia correcting non-constructive edits and vandalism, as well as notifying users. The majority of my edits are minor changes or changes to users' talk pages. I'm requesting rollback rights so that I can better use some of the anti-vandalism tools available to me. Thanks for your time. CivilianArthur (talk) 20:44, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
I am requesting rollback rights because I spend most of my time on Wikipedia reverting vandalism, and I would like to help fight vandals more effectively. I have made some mistakes, but I mostly have a good understanding of Wikipedia policies, and I try to always WP:AGF. Rollback will also allow me to use tools like AntiVandal. Thank you. Protobowladdict (talk) 16:51, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
Some newbie editors contain IP address not their username editing wrong and fake information even if is not the area origin. Vineyard93 (talk) 10:47, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
Hello, I have been working on counter-vandalism with RedWarn for a while now. Despite my inconsistent and relatively low edit count compared to other requesters, I believe I would be a good fit. I approach CV with the idea that it is better to have somebody with malicious intentions get away with their behavior than it is to accuse an innocent person of Vandalism. I aim for high accuracy over total reverts. I have made mistakes in the past but I am usually quick to notice and fix them. The main reason I am requesting Rollback is to gain experience with the Huggle desktop application. Thank you for the consideration and I look forward to hearing back. UndeadAnarchy|✉ 14:46, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
I would like to request rollback permission to help combat vandalism, particularly in Nepal-related articles, which I frequently come across while patrolling recent changes. Having rollback rights would allow me to efficiently revert obvious and disruptive edits, improving the quality of affected pages. I always assume good faith and am careful when reviewing edits. If I am uncertain whether an edit is vandalism, I do not revert it. I am also familiar with Wikipedia’s warning templates and know when it is appropriate to report persistent vandals to WP:AIV. I believe rollback will be a valuable tool in my efforts to maintain Wikipedia’s integrity, and I will use it responsibly. Thank you for your time and consideration. Requests for template editor |

Template editor[edit]
Hi. I would like to request the rights to edit certain templates, such as the {{piechart}} template and its associated module, important when its usage increases. I want to have these rights in advance so I can apply fixes when needed. I am already a sysop on pl-wiki and an interface admin on several wikis, including meta-wiki. See more on my page: User:Nux. In real life, I am a library systems programmer with professional experience in WCAG and hold a certificate in web accessibility, which is useful for certain aspects of template development (colors, structure). I also work on gadgets and CI/CD scripts, such as Wikipedia:Wikiploy, which, while less relevant to templates, demonstrates my programming experience — an important skill for working with Lua modules. Oh, I did read the guidelines. I even translated them into Polish; it didn't gain traction on plwiki, but at least now I know them :) Nux (talk) 20:37, 29 January 2025 (UTC)

"Do you want to take a survey?"
[edit]On Feb. 12, 2005, I did a random pages survey. Out of 100 random pages, only 1 was a U.S. town. That's progress. Three towns in the UK, 1 in Spain and 1 in Portugal also turned up. Overall biographies were the largest category at 22%, followed by geography with 15% total. Then Lists at 7%, Disambiguation pages at 6%.
On Feb. 24, 2006, I repeated the 100 random page survey, this time getting 5 U.S. towns. Overall, geography had 26%, biography 21%, fiction 9%, music 4%, colleges 4%, lists 3% and disambigs 4%. Clearly geography and biography are our largest areas. Music, science and business scored less than I expected. Non-individual History was hardly discernable.
Even by Feb. 2005, 100 out of almost 500,000 was not statistically significant but was as much as I had patience for.
